Mauricio Kartun: "Milei is the parody of tragedy, but I am terrified of him"

The prestigious playwright spoke about his contribution to theater, the losses that virtuality entails, his need to "disperse" in order to create, his love for gardening and nature, his feelings regarding Javier Milei's candidacy and even why not use cell phone. This Monday he will be honored, along with Griselda Gambaro, Néstor TIrro and Tito Cossa, with the Copper Rose.

He says, quite jokingly and a little seriously, that one of the things that pushed him to work as an artist was "the valorization of the act of sleeping." Because in his formative stage, the now multi-award-winning playwright, director, writer and teacher Mauricio Kartun (76) had to go through a time that he defines as "very distressing": waking up at three in the morning to go to work at the then Mercado del Abasto while studying everything he could knowing that once a week he would not be able to fall into the arms of Morpheus. But the effort he made and the talent he showed continue to bear fruit. The author of "The Argentine Boy", "Chau Misterix", "El partener", "La casita de los Viejos", "Sacco y Vanzetti", "La Madonnita", "Ala de servants", "Salomé de chacra", "Terrenal", "Little Anarchist Mystery", "La Vis Cómica" and the novel "Salo Solo, el patroller del amor", among other pieces, is about to be awarded again.
