The international community fears the consequences of a ground offensive in the Palestinian enclave controlled since 2007 by Hamas and where international aid barely reaches 2.4 million inhabitants. The UN Human Rights Office warned that collective punishment constitutes war crimes.

The UN warned this Friday that the bombings against densely populated areas and the blockade of the Gaza Strip constitute war crimes, while the Israeli Army reported an imminent increase in its ground operations in the Palestinian enclave, after carrying out a new " selective raid" against Hamas, which confirmed that there are already more than 7,300 dead from the Israeli attacks. "We are very concerned that war crimes are being committed. We are concerned about the collective punishment inflicted on Gazans in response to the heinous attacks by Hamas, which also constitute war crimes," said Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, during a UN briefing in Geneva. Since the attack carried out by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7 in southern Israel, the Israeli Army has bombed this Palestinian enclave daily, which it keeps blocked, and mobilized thousands of reservists to the border with the Strip, where they expect a large land incursion. The UN spokesperson criticized that the Israeli Army has asked the Gazan population to leave certain areas while maintaining a tight blockade that prevents not only the entry of supplies into the Strip, but also the flight of the population.
